What is the difference between highlights, balayage, and foiliage?

To make booking easier, we've grouped all techniques under "Highlights." During your consultation, your stylist will recommend the best techniques to achieve your desired result.

**Highlights**: This is a general term for any hair coloring technique where lighter strands are applied to sections of the hair. Highlights are typically done using foils and involve precise placement to create a more uniform blonde from roots to ends.

**Balayage**: This technique involves hand-painting color onto the hair in a more freehand, natural-looking manner. Balayage creates a soft, sun-kissed look with less noticeable roots and more blended, graduated highlights. It's less structured than traditional highlights and typically has a more effortless, lived-in look.

**Foiliage**: A hybrid of both foils and balayage, foiliage combines the precision of foils with the natural, hand-painted effect of balayage. Foils are used to wrap the color, but the color is applied in a more freeform way, creating a blend between the two techniques.

Do I need to make an appointment or can I walk in?

While we do accept walk-ins, we highly recommend making an appointment as our availability is often limited on the day.

Where can I park?

Since we're located downtown, parking is only available on the street, and you'll need to pay at the meters or through the Park ATX app. We get it—parallel parking can be a hassle. However, being on a quieter, more residential street, there's typically plenty of space, and fewer onlookers to judge your parking skills.

What products do you use?

For our traditional color and lightening services, we primarily use Davines. For vivid colors, we’re big fans of Pravana and Danger Jones.

For shampoo, styling, and retail products, we offer a selection from Davines, Aveda, and Evo.

What is a color correction?

A color correction is a service aimed at fixing or adjusting the color of your hair when it doesn’t turn out as expected or when it has faded, become uneven, or developed unwanted tones. We will also book a color correction if you are looking for a 180 change ie: from dark to blonde or blonde to dark, long vivid services that require multiple processes, or any service that our stylists determine will take substantially longer than the expected time of a traditional service.

Our color corrections are priced hourly and require an in person consultation where you will receive a personalized quote and detailed plan of action.
